Singing Praises!

First let me catch you up on what's been happening in case you missed my Facebook posts. My "Mother's Day pink-eye" cleared up pretty good after two rounds of steroid eye drops. I'm still wearing my glasses, but will ease back into contacts and wearing makeup again.  For the remainder of the 4 weeks after chemo, I was thankful to be feeling my "old" self, or should I say "former" lol!

On May 27th, it was back for my next round of chemo after a finger stick to see how my counts responded to the chemo.  The doctor was impressed with how well I responded.  My two-day chemo resulted in lymphocytes in the low normal range and white cells below normal--that's amazing since they were too high to register before treatment!  Also, I had noticed that my spleen was back to normal and underarm nodes had shrunk back to normal. No wonder the doctor was impressed!  He gave me a week off and rescheduled me for the following week. Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers--they work!

If you followed me on Facebook you remember that I was pleased not to have to have chemo.  The next week, another finger stick showed that my platelets were the same, so the chemo was postponed again.  That's when I felt a bit discouraged, but then started thinking there was a reason.  I felt fine and decided I was blessed to have another week without chemo.

Today was the third finger stick check.  The nurse remarked that "three's a charm" but I was thinking that maybe not...after all God has a plan for all of us :)  And as you might guess, the platelets were still not improving, but that didn't mean I needed chemo.  In fact, just the opposite: my doctor decided that because of the awesome response in my white cells from the first round of chemo, I wouldn't have chemo again until my white counts once again were too high.  I go back for just a regular doctor visit in August.

So that, my dear friends and family, is why I am singing praises!  Remission after just one round instead of the recommended six rounds!  God is good!  And I don't dismiss good nutrition...I thank God that he put me in the good hands of a gifted nutritionist over a year ago who helped me get my health where it needed to be to fight my leukemia.  I think I'll keep doing what I'm doing :)

Thank you all for your love, prayers, and positive thinking.  Please let me know if I can ever return the favor. We're here for each other!
